What do you need to consider when obtaining a residence permit ELECTIVE RESIDENCE

Elective residence permit does not give you the right to work in Italy.
After living in the country for 5 years with a temporary residence permit, you can apply for a long-term residence permit or permanent residency.

In order to renew your residence permit, you must not leave Italy for more than 6 consecutive months. This might serve as a reason resulting in refusal to renew it.
You can be a founder of an Italian company.
